Residents Holding Hands in Sensory Room

Opening Our Sensory Room

We are pleased to announce that our sensory room project is now completed. Residents and relatives can enjoy spending time in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. A special thank you to Donna, our Activities Coordinator for her creativity and interior design.

We have had great feedback from residents. There was a royal quiz and residents listened to calming music while feeling objects with different textures and admiring the glowing lights.

The sensory room provides a calming and therapeutic environment that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety. The sensory elements, such as soothing lights, comfortable seating, and relaxing sounds, create a serene atmosphere that helps residents unwind and find inner peace.

A sensory room stimulates the senses and enhances sensory experiences. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with sensory processing disorders or cognitive impairments, as it can improve sensory integration and perception.

It is a versatile space for therapeutic interventions and activities. We intend to use the sensory room for relaxation exercises, meditation, sensory-based therapies, or as a multi-sensory environment for recreational activities and social interactions.

We look forward to seeing our residents continue to use and benefit from our new sensory space at Deeside Care Home.
