Staying Connected at Deeside Care Home – Maureen’s Story

When Maureen moved into Deeside Care Home in July 2025, one of her biggest concerns was leaving behind the social life she had built over the years. Having always been an active member of her community, Maureen was particularly worried that she would no longer be able to attend church and stay connected to her faith.
Her beliefs have always been an important part of her life, and the thought of losing that connection was understandably difficult as she adjusted to her new surroundings.
Supporting What Matters Most
Shortly after settling in, our team at Deeside Care Home spoke with Maureen about the different ways she could continue practising her faith. She was pleased to learn that our home offers several in-person church services, allowing residents to continue worshipping in a familiar and meaningful way.
Maureen quickly became a regular attendee and now enjoys taking part in the services held within the home. In addition, she also attends a local church hub event called Music to Remember, alongside staff and fellow residents.

These outings have given Maureen the opportunity to reconnect with people from her previous church and wider community, something that has made a real difference to her overall wellbeing.
A Renewed Sense of Joy and Belonging
Since moving into Deeside, Maureen has not only been able to maintain her faith, but has also built new friendships with both residents and visitors who share similar beliefs.
Her mood visibly lifts in the lead up to attending the local hub, and she looks forward to seeing familiar faces and enjoying the sense of connection these events bring. Being able to continue this important part of her life has helped Maureen feel settled, supported and truly at home.
Today, Maureen is happy, engaged and surrounded by a community that understands what matters most to her.
