A Wonderful Burns Day Celebration at Deeside Care Home

Burns day celebrations at Deeside Care Home

Burns Day was celebrated in true Scottish style at Deeside Care Home, creating a memorable afternoon filled with tradition, music, and togetherness. Our Burns Sunday celebration was one of the highlights of the season and brought residents, staff, and visitors together to enjoy everything that makes this day so special.

The afternoon began with our talented kitchen team preparing a delicious traditional lunch of haggis, neeps, and tatties. The meal was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and set the perfect tone for the celebrations. A particularly special moment followed when one of our residents proudly addressed the haggis before lunch was served, adding an authentic and heartfelt touch that was met with smiles and applause.

After lunch, the celebrations continued with Deeside’s very first ceilidh. The room quickly filled with the sound of lively Scottish music, creating an atmosphere full of energy and excitement. Residents, staff, and visitors cheered on the dancers, clapped along to the music, and joined in where they could. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the moment together, with laughter and encouragement filling the room.

To round off the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome the talented girls from Danz Creations, who treated us to a fantastic Highland dancing performance. Their skill, enthusiasm, and bright smiles captured everyone’s attention and kept residents thoroughly entertained from start to finish. As always, their performance was outstanding and brought the celebration to a fitting close.

Events like this are an important part of life at Deeside Care Home. They give residents the opportunity to celebrate Scottish heritage, share memories, and enjoy meaningful social experiences. Burns Day reminded us of the joy that comes from tradition, music, and community, and the smiles seen throughout the afternoon spoke volumes.

We would like to thank our kitchen team, our wonderful performers, and everyone who took part in making this Burns Day celebration such a success. It was an afternoon that will be fondly remembered by all who joined us.
