What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a neurological condition that is common in older people. It can affect someone’s ability to remember recent events, rationalise and communicate with others. It’s critical that those living with dementia are correctively cared for so that they can live a full life, no matter the stage they are at or the type of dementia they have. It’s also important that an individual’s family and friends have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is in the best hands.

Residential Care

Residential care at our Aberdeen care home gives you the freedom to live your life as you like. We have experienced staff available at all hours of the day to give our residents as much assistance as they require. Residential care is most suited to someone who is unable to maintain a household or requires additional assistance with personal care.

At our residential home, we recognise our residents’ individual talents and skills and urge them to put them to good use so that they can be as self-sufficient as possible. The levels of life care and support provided by our care teams are tailored to each of our residents’ personal circumstances so that health and well being needs can be met each and every day through a person centred approach.

Nursing Care

Nursing care will be provided to residents who require constant medical care and personal attention. This type of quality care is best suited for residents who may have high dependency needs, learning difficulties and also palliative care. Our nursing home is also beneficial for those with physical disabilities and those who have been diagnosed with long-term health problems to receive appropriate medical care.

Deeside Care Home features en-suite rooms with nursing beds and other specialised equipment for maximum comfort and peace of mind. Each nursing care resident will be assigned a key nurse so that residents become accustomed to one of our staff who will learn their likes, dislikes and preferences in order to provide outstanding nursing care.

Respite Care

Respite care is a type of short-term care that gives carers a break by taking care of their responsibilities for a period of time. It is also appropriate for those who have recently had an illness or injury and require additional time to fully recover in a safe and pleasant environment.

Future residents can often be hesitant about moving into a care home. Respite care can be used as a way of arranging a trial stay in order for residents to get a taste of what life will be like if they decide to relocate to our Aberdeen care home permanently. No matter someone’s reasons for staying at Deeside, each person will be equally treated with dignity and respect.
